DVS is a standard technique for reducing the power consumption of CMOS based systems.
Based on the fact that dynamic power is proportional to the square of the supply voltage, significant savings can be achieved by adjusting the supply voltage dynamically such that the varying performance resp. frequency requirements are just met.
